CPC are proud to have sponsored the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity Celebratory Lunch at The Old Palace, Chester, as part of the 30th anniversary of the charity.
We are a strong supporter of the charity that gives so much towards cancer care for the communities Clatterbridge serves. This was the first Chester Lunch for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, marking a special celebration to commemorate the charity’s 30-year anniversary.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is the dedicated charity for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, supporting cancer patients and their families across Cheshire, Merseyside and beyond. With 1 in 2 people in the region affected by cancer at some point in their lives, the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity raises vital funds to go further than NHS funding can reach, investing in pioneering research, the latest medical equipment and improvements to the spaces where patients receive their care.
The Clatterbridge Private Clinic has a close relationship with the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, and we have supported the charity over many years through donations, sponsorship, fundraising and more. At the end of last year, we had a table at the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity’s Annual Ball, where the charity raised an incredible £240,000. We also donated a Fortnum and Mason hamper to the charity’s Christmas raffle.
We’re honoured to have sponsored the Chester 30th Anniversary Lunch, helping the charity raise more money to fund vital cancer care for patients across Merseyside and Cheshire.
Duncan Armfield, CPC’s General Manager, says, “The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is such an amazing organisation that has helped fund vital cancer care in our region. Recently, a large donation by the charity was given to fund research across many cancers that ultimately results in the cutting-edge treatments we can offer to our patients in the private clinic.”

“For example, Dr Escriu, one of the lung oncologists, is leading research into improved Thoracic cancer treatments using a Research Engine team approach that identifies opportunities and supports innovation so vital to tackle the disease. This is all so important so we can offer our patients the very best consultant-led care”.

Lesley Woodhead, Fundraising Development Manager from Clatterbridge Cancer Charity said after the event, “Many thanks for sponsoring the lunch. We were delighted to celebrate 30 years of the charity and to hear from Prof. Tim Maughan who is the Director for Clinical Research at Clatterbridge as well as Professor of Oncology for the University of Liverpool and Emeritus Professor at the University of Oxford about the impact of research on patient care and outcomes.”
“A fantastic amount was raised on the day enabling one of the twelve Hilotherm machines to be purchased. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we will be the first NHS hospital to have this new technology available for our patients.”
Dr Richard Walshaw also spoke at the lunch, highlighting the benefits Hilotherm can give to patients who could be impacted by neuropathy during their Chemotherapy treatment. Dr Walshaw practices out of the Clatterbridge Pilot Clinic and Hilotherm has been available for private patients at both Liverpool and Wirral since February 2025.
Further support for the charity is coming from Dr Ian Lampkin, who treats prostate and skin cancers in the private clinic, as he takes on another fundraising challenge. Last year, Dr Lampkin ran the Port Sunlight 10K to raise funds for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, and this year he’s taking on a new challenge.

Dr Lampkin says, “This time I am running a trail Excalibur 10k around Moel Famau on the 10th May 2026, with my friend and colleague Dr Jonny Heseltine, followed by the Clatterbridge Abseil on the 7th June 2026 with my gym friend Steve. If you could sponsor us on my JustGiving page so we can continue to fund the vital projects and research for our cancer patients”.
Well done, Ian and Jonny! Please give if you can: https://www.justgiving.com/page/ian-lampkin-3?newPage=true.
