Prostate Cancer

There are numerous treatment options for localised or locally advanced prostate cancer. Our consultants work closely with the region’s urological surgeons to provide a balanced opinion on the best treatment options for each individual case.

Options for lower risk cancers include active surveillance, low dose rate or seed brachytherapy, or robotic surgery. Higher risk cancers can be treated with hormones and external beam radiotherapy, high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy or robotic surgery. Not infrequently, two or three of these options in combination are necessary to tackle a higher risk cancer.

All of these treatments, except surgery, are available at The Clatterbridge Clinic. Fiducial (gold seed) markers, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) are also available.
