Patients undergoing treatment at Clatterbridge Private Clinic will now benefit from on-site access to a new, state-of-the-art £2.6 million diagnostic imaging service.
A joint venture between the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust and Mater Private Healthcare, Clatterbridge Private Clinic is situated adjacent to the Centre, enabling its patients to access specialist, integrated cancer services and the most advanced treatments, technology and diagnostic equipment.
The latest major investment from the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, includes the arrival of a new PET-CT scanner, a key piece of equipment which will boost patient care, treatment planning and ensure that they will no longer have to travel for this type of treatment. Prior to the investment, the closest available private PET-CT facility was situated in Preston, Lancashire.
The new scanner combines Positron Emission Tomography (PET), a technique which shows how cells are functioning, and Computerised Tomography (CT), to produce images which can provide detailed information as to the exact location, size, nature and extent of disease anywhere in the body. The new on-site service also supports PET-CT radiotherapy treatment planning, which permits much more targeted precision treatment of tumours.
Jane Taylor, Manager at Clatterbridge Private Clinic says: “Clatterbridge Private Clinic is committed to the delivery of exceptional private cancer care and we are delighted that we are now able to offer our patients access to this state-of-the-art imaging technology on-site.”
